










Just before the Christmas holidays the newly formed Welsh House Farm Mens Group held a launch event at The Haven Community Project funded by the Big Local Partnership.

Where have all the bike riders on Welsh House Farm gone to?

Our latest Big Local Ride Active 2 free to attend event in conjunction with Big Birmingham Bikes is taking place tomorrow afternoon from 1.00pm-3.00pm at the MUGA on Selcroft Avenue B32 2DA.

You can also take part in a bike ride to Woodgate Valley Country Park led by an experienced lead cycling rider from Cycling UK if you feel comfortable riding within a group on public roads.

So come and RIDE ACTIVE 2 with Big Local and Big Birmingham Bikes tomorrow afternoon.

What a great start to the Welsh House Farm BigLocal Energise Festival, with various free to attend activities and workshops happening across the area for both young and old.

Our Energise Festival poster and timetable of activities was launched out to Welsh House Farm with Rise Community Sports twice daily Summer Sports Sessions giving young people opportunities to play various inclusive sports at the MUGA on Selcroft Avenue.

Young people from across Welsh House Farm have also been given the opportunity to sign upto various other workshops such as Streetestra music and dance from a local charity called On The Edge.


One of our main aims this Summer along with partner organisations is to bring more engagement with young people on other parts Welsh House Farm who don't normally come to organised activities in safe spaces.

Rise Community Sports have led the way by taking it's Summer Sports Sessions onto an unused bit of land on Welsh House Farm where upto 30-40 young people have been given the opportunity to play sports together and hold dance classes.

At the Haven Community Project yesterday where the Big Local office is based a local resident Cath Fletcher with support from her mother Jean and volunteers held a gardening and creative workshop for a large group 8 year olds.

He has taught English and Citizenship for a number of years and for almost a decade he's been helping children read, write and develop emotional literacy through poetry.

On The Edge are a long established based charity bringing a number of workshops for any young person under 25 based around music and dance over this summer.
Today’s workshop is happening at the Quinborne Community Centre from 10am till 12pm.

Treasure Hunt – Thursday 17th August
Time: 10.00am-1.00pm (last entrance at 12.00pm)
Age: Any (supervision for under 11’s)
Venue: Haven Community Project (starting point)
Teams of 2-8 turn up to the Haven Community Project to receive your treasure. Lasting roughly an hour, travel round Welsh House Farm looking out for the clues we’ve put up to be able to work out the answer to unlock your treasure! There are prizes for every team that successfully solves the clues. Arrive any time from 10-12noon. Under 11’s must have an over 18 in a team. 12-15’s must have an over 16 in the team.
